Needing a higher level of clarity, this prestigious research organization requested Full Duck to polish journal articles, proposals and materials used to interact with study participants.
Challenge: Support a highly educated staff of scientists and medical personnel with editing services to prepare documents for publication in exclusive national medical magazines and for submission to competitive federal funding agencies. Work with some staff members whose first language is not English. Help troubleshoot interactions with subjects of medical studies.
Solution: Full Duck read first drafts of documents for overall content and to determine intent. Then Full Duck edited the material for consistency of terminology, sentence structure, completeness, sequential logic, consistency, clarity and redundancy. Full Duck recommend sections for cuts or expansion when required or changes in graphics for logic, clarity and readability. When clarification or condensation was needed, Full Duck rewrote sentences or paragraphs as samples for the author to review. Finally, Full Duck checked the documents including extensive reference pages for compliance with the stringent publication formats. For projects with manuals or websites, Full Duck tested the materials for interaction and made recommendation for logic and ease of use. Full Duck often participated in telephone conferences with authors or met with proposal planning teams. Full Duck returned all edited documents using Word’s Reviewing Tool so that original and edited text could be viewed by the author.
